I AM the Noticer Cards
Helping children notice their thoughts, feelings and inner world – without being defined by them.
The I AM the Noticer Cards are a simple, engaging way to help children explore the thoughts and feelings happening inside them and discover an important idea:
You can notice a thought without having to believe it.
You can notice a feeling without becoming it.
You are the one who notices.
Inspired by There’s a Monster on My Shoulder, these beautifully designed cards invite children to pause, become curious and explore their inner world with greater self-awareness.
Each card offers a thought, question or prompt designed to encourage children to notice, explore, reflect and choose. They can be used individually, as conversation starters, during quiet reflection, in classrooms, counselling or therapy settings, or alongside the Beyond the Monster resources.
Rather than telling children what they should think or feel, the cards create space for children to discover their own answers.
What children can explore
🍃 I AM – Identity
Who am I beyond my thoughts, feelings and worries?
💭 Noticing Thoughts
What is my mind saying to me? Is this thought helpful, unhelpful, true, or simply a thought?
❤️ Understanding Feelings
What am I feeling? Where do I notice it in my body?
🔎 Being Curious
What happens when I pause and simply notice?
🌱 Making Choices
What could I choose to think, say or do next?
The cards are not about getting rid of difficult thoughts or feelings. They are about helping children develop the awareness to recognise them, create a little space around them, and remember:
“I have thoughts. I have feelings. But I am not my thoughts or my feelings.
I AM the Noticer.”
Perfect for:
✔️ Parents and families

✔️ Children exploring worry, big feelings, self-awareness and emotional wellbeing
A gentle resource for helping children understand their inner world — and begin to realise that they have more choice than they might think.
